Superman III – Reference Boots

A pair of signature red Superman boots used for reference during the construction of the costume pieces for Superman III (Warner Bros., 1983). These boots were constructed as prototypes to be approved for production and were subsequently kept by the bootmaker as reference to make sure each pair matched exactly. The lot includes the boots, made of soft, red-dye leather, as well as the wooden shoe forms carved to match Christopher Reeve’s feet, cardboard and butcher paper patterns, large prints of original boot tracings with handwritten notation for the Superman III production and a hand-traced “left shoe” print and a swatch of the red boot material for dye matching.
